Autumn is here - an acrostic poem
All the
Usual events occur -
Tumbling leaves from blackening trees,
Umbrella blossoms, geese like heralds trumpeting,
Mists like veils and shrouds draping amber fields,
Nights come early with frost, puckered with stars.
It happens every year and
Still the beauty of it shocks like glacial water.
Have we really been here before?
Each day is familiar, but surely none was ever so
Rich as this day, none so dense with ruby-studded trees, lazuli skies,
Evanescent gold leaf beaten thin by Time and tossed on the pyre of the year.
